Atlanta police on the hunt for Gucci Mane after second alleged assault in a week

Atlanta police are on the hunt for rapper Gucci Mane after a second alleged assault in under a week.

The Brick Squad lynchpin has – musically at least – been on fire this year, releasing four mixtapes already in 2013 while also finding time to make headlines over his sex scene in Harmony Korine’s new film Spring Breakers. When it comes to Gucci and the law, however, they’ve never quite got on: he’s been arrested in the past on charges of battery, drug possession, aggravated assault and, infamously, murder, serving prison time on several occasions. You can make your own jokes about his biggest crime being 2011’s album with V-Nasty.

On March 22, Atlanta Police issued a warrant for Gucci’s arrest after he allegedy attacked a fan with a bottle of champagne. Local news network WSB-TV report that the fan, a soldier called James, claimed that Gucci struck him “while he was talking to a security guard about getting a photo with the rapper.” The soldier required 10 stitches in his head. Atlanta police have told the network that “they still haven’t heard” from Gucci Mane, and are waiting for him to turn himself in. Attempts to reach him have been unsuccessful, though it’s not hard to find out where Gucci is: he played a live show in Indiana this weekend, and has several well-documented live dates on the horizon.

Now, a second man, named only as TJ, has reached out to the network, claiming that Gucci punched him in the jaw in the early hours of March 18 in Philadelphia. “He punched me on the left side of my face, right here in the jaw, knocking off my glasses,” said the victim, who claims that the assault took place after he tried to shake Gucci’s hand after a live show in the city’s Club Onyx. “You just don’t go around hitting your fans”.
