Here’s the drop.

Soundcloud has been one of the indisputable success stories of the internet in recent years, and has become a site many of us use daily, probably without even noticing it. Supplanting Myspace as the promotional streaming tool du jour for bands, artists and labels around the world, the seemingly low-key site has flourished because of its simplicity and efficiency, and this no doubt has led to its founders Alexander Ljung and Eric Wahlforss being honoured.

The two developers took home the award for European Entrepreneurs of the Year – the only European Commission backed tech entrepreneur award – at the Europioneers celebration this week in Amsterdam, and we think they entirely deserve it. We’ve been trying to think of a site we’d miss more on a day to day basis if it was to mysteriously disappear into the ether, and we just can’t. Ljung and Wahlforss have made our lives a little better, and for that they deserve all the awards they can possibly get. [via Music Week]
