Jack White's Third Man Records to release Great Gatsby OST as $250 deluxe vinyl set

Add Third Man Records to the list of companies to miss the point of The Great Gatsby.

As previously reported, Jack White’s Third Man Records will handle the vinyl release of the Jay-Z produced soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of the literary classic.

Third Man’s deluxe vinyl edition of the soundtrack will be released on “blindingly reflective metalized discs,” one in platinum and the other in gold, which the label holds to be the first-ever commercially available records to be produced this way. Additionally, the two records will be house in a “laser-cut wooden LP jacket riveted to aluminum spines” in the “Art Deco-meets-modern” style of the film and the label.

This hand made, Gilded Age set retails for $250, with a (US-only) pre-sale starting at May 10 at 9am; 100 copies will also be available at Third Man’s Nashville store on the same day. On June 11, the standard edition double album will be released on boring, old 180 gram vinyl in a ho-hum gold foil-stamped gatefold. Take a look at the deluxe edition in the below video.
