The hardy indie perennials have cancelled their UK tour to spend more time on their sixth album.

In a statement issued via ATP, who were putting on the London show at The Roundhouse, Modest Mouse said: “After much thought, we have decided to cancel our EU/UK tour to continue work on our forthcoming album. We do appreciate our fans and promise that we will make it up to you next year.’

Ticketholders can get refunds from the point of purchase.

The US group hasn’t released a record since 2007’s We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank, which was the band’s only full-length that included former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr as a member of the band. Marr released his solo debut The Messenger earlier this year.
