Today James Blake has announced that a handful of dates on this fall’s tour would be postponed until next year, and there’s actually a pretty good reason for it.

It’s not family circumstances and it’s not because he needs his tonsils out, but as we reported last week, the crooning heartthrob was nominated for a Mercury Prize for his recent album Overgrown. If you want to be in with a chance to win you kind of have to show up, so we’re guessing that the folks at his label think that Blake actually might take home the prize.

It would certainly be timely, not just because Overgrown has been so warmly received, but Blake’s recent associations with Drake and rising star Chance The Rapper have to count for something, right?

The shows that are affected are listed below, according to Blake’s Facebook page refunds will be available, and tickets will be valid for the rescheduled events. Check out the rest of the tour here. [via Pitchfork]

10-28 Austin, TX – Emo’s
