Tom Waits has announced his first live show since 2008.

Although the gravel-throated singer has released music in that time, including 2011’s Bad As Me, he’s not toured for almost half a decade (he did, however, appear on stage with The Rolling Stones earlier this year). As NME note, Waits has this weekend been added to the line-up for Neil Young’s Bridge School Benefit concert, which takes place on October 27 in California. He’ll be playing an acoustic set of music from Bad As Me, on a bill that also includes Queens of the Stone Age.

Announcing the gig via Facebook (yes, Tom Waits on Facebook weirds us out too), Waits explains that “I had every good intention to stay home and work on my JD Salinger Halloween mask, but when Neil told me yesterday he was serving burnt cow’s eyes on a flat tire and it’s all gluten free, I invited myself!”
