File under: extreme shape throwing.

Rave reconstructionists EVOL are still best known around these parts for contributing FACT’s most confounding mix to date (it’s over 100 tracks long, if you missed it at the time).

They’ve got a pretty solid line in original material however, and new LP Totally Inflatable follows last year’s collaboration with noise veteran Russell Haswell Right Nightmare. Again released on the Alku label, Totally Inflatable pits the Scottish/Spanish duo against 1992 Rotterdam Termination Source rave anthem ‘Poing‘, yet somehow they manage to avoid sampling it at all.

The original track’s unforgettable pinging synthesizer is instead used as the record’s primary inspiration, and is copied, stretched, repeated, stuttered and wrenched through all manner of effects to create something akin to Mark Fell on a happy hardcore tip.

Totally Inflatable is out now on Alku, you can take a listen to a selection of live clips below.
