In the wake of ‘Survival’ and ‘Berzerk’, Eminem channels his inner Lil B.

Plucked from the forthcoming The Marshall Mathers LP 2 , ‘Rap God’ sees Eminem sound more elastic than he has in yonks, ping-ponging between different voices and mimicking Busta Rhymes’ blistering ‘Look At Me Now’ verse. There are quite a few problems with ‘Rap God’ – the fairly weedy trap beat, the unnecessary length, the fact Eminem sounds like he’s trying really hard – but, after the emo-rap sludge of his last few albums, it’s a shuffle in the right direction.

The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will drop on November 5. Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, and Fun. are among those set to guest on the album.
