Loefah‘s Swamp81 imprint has given birth to a new sublabel.
Entitled simply 81, the label was revealed on Facebook today and differs from its parent imprint by having a very specific mission statement. Releases will be monthly and offered digitally, with vinyl copies being very limited.
This is a massive about-turn for Swamp 81, which has typically released records on vinyl only and without any real release dates, and they’ve already announced a schedule for the rest of 2014. September will bring ‘Instructions’ from Mickey Pearce, October’s release will be Paleman’s ‘Beezledub’, November will be ‘Oun-c’ from Chunky and they’ll close out the year in December with Zed Bias’s ‘Chokehold’.
You can take a peep at the label’s logo above, and the label will be complimented by a bi-monthly club night, which kicks off on Wednesday September 10 at London’s Oslo. You can grab tickets here.
