If you enjoyed Red Bull Music Academy’s recent lengthy conversations with UK techno don Untold and Detroit legend Robert Hood, then you are likely to be into this. As part of this year’s Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo, RBMA sat down with Japanese composer and synth wizard Isao Tomita.

Born in Tokyo in 1932, Tomita pioneered the use of the Moog synthesizer throughout the 1960s. His work was highly influential within the realms of both film scoring and synthesizer music, with hallmarks of Tomita’s compositions still heard in contemporary science fiction soundtracks and modern day synth-pop.
