Ciara bites back at Future on 'I Bet'

Ciara’s not mincing her words on her new single.

Following her split from Future shortly after the birth of their baby boy (also called Future) last May, Ciara has offered her own take on the whole messy business. ‘I Bet’ is the first single from her forthcoming sixth album, and it’s a downtempo R&B number that sees Ciara scolding an ex for not appreciating her properly.

“I imagine this song will be very meaningful for a lot of people. It is much bigger than any one person’s experience,” she told Billboard. Sample lyric: “You acting like you upgraded me, but I upgraded you […] You took advantage, I can’t understand it.”

Ciara added she was “truly fulfilled” by making her new album, a follow-up to 2013’s self-titled effort. “I was able to create everything I have aspired and hoped for as an artist. It is my favorite album I have made thus far in my career, and so excited begin my new journey. It is a new me. A new attitude.”
