The low budget short was filmed near the end of the rapper’s run on Degrassi, but before his music career took off.

Drake recently unveiled Jungle a gloomy short film that preceded his new mixtape (or album depending on who you listen to) If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. Today, By Any Means Necessary Films, the studio that shot music videos for ‘Marvin’s Room’, ‘Headlines’, ‘Motto’, shared a very different short film shot back in 2008 when Drake was known more for playing Jimmy on Degrassi than anything else.

Titled ‘Us & Them’, the low budget short stars Drake and actor Mazin Elsadig as a sort of modern Odd Couple and features cameos from Drake’s grandmother and uncle Steve. As Fader points out, the short trailer comes off as a proof-of-concept for a TV show that was likely never pursued due to the attention he would receive for his music only a year later.

Watch both the trailer and the full video below and be sure to read our review of If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late.
