The pair have each produced a track for the Moroccan gnawa musician.

Maâlem Mahmoud Guinia is regarded as a maâlem (master) of the traditional North-West African sound. The veteran musician recorded with Floating Points and James Holden during the pair’s recent visit to Morocco for the fifth Marrakech Biennale (which also featured Vessel and Biosphere).

A-side ‘Mimoum Marhaba’ finds Guinia paired with Floating Points, whilst on the flip ‘Bania’ has him working alongside James Holden. The 12″ comes packaged with a 20-page photo essay by Camille Blak.

This Saturday’s Independent Record Label Market in London at Spitalfields will have “super advanced copies” for sale according to Floating Points. The stall is shared with Four Tet and will open at 11am.

Marhaba will be released by Eglo Records on April 20. You can check the tracklist below. [via RA]
