The rapper-turned-actor has signed up for a role in the forthcoming Suicide Squad movie.

Though he received an Oscar for Best Original Song with John Legend earlier this yearCommon’s next project will be in front of the camera, starring in the forthcoming DC Comics super-villain movie Suicide Squad.

According to Billboard, the veteran rapper has signed to star in the film in an undisclosed role. Though it’s not clear which of the DC Universe’s characters he’ll be playing, the film already features Jared Leto as The Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn.

Set in the same universe as Batman and Superman, the film revolves around a group of imprisoned super-villains recruited by a government agency to perform covert operations in exchange for their freedom.

Common is no stranger to acting – over the years he’s appeared in many films including American Gangster, Terminator: Salvation and Now You See Me. If you’d rather hear him make music than watch him go up against Batman, footage was recently unearthed of the artist from a 2002 session with J Dilla.
