Trailblazing UK label Planet Mu is to celebrate 20 years of music with a three-disc compilation.

Planet Mu 20th Anniversary features both old music and unreleased tracks from the label’s history, with discs one and two featuring “colourful, broad and adventurous” music primarily from the current decade, with artists including Kuedo, Machinedrum, Jlin, RP Boo, John T. Gast and more.

Disc three focuses on the “older guard” of the 90s and 00s, with Jega, Neil Landstrumm, Speedy J, Shitmat, Leafcutter John, Hrvatski and more featured alongside music from label founder Mike Paradinas aka µ-Ziq.

The compilation will also come with a 100-page book written by The Wire’s Rory Gibb charting the label’s history, complete with insight from key artists and label staff. It will come packed in a deluxe DVD-style box, though a smaller two-disc version is also planned – there will also be a digital edition with all 50 tracks, but no book.

The compilation is released on September 4 – until then you can revisit FACT’s oral history of Planet Mu from earlier this year.
