A new source for unique samples has launched online.
Irrupt is still operating in beta, but after a wider launch later this year promises to offer a huge range of sounds exclusively created by “renowned sound designers and producers”.
The team behind the venture – which includes Eloy Lopez and Brad Roulier, two of the three founders of Beatport, and Jay Ahern of Hard Wax, who’s also a seasoned producer – say their products will be higher quality than other downloadable samples.
“The term ‘sample pack/library’ is a dirty word — it’s a thing of the past,” Ahern and Lopez told RA. “So we refer to [what we sell] as a ‘sound product.’
“Our curated collections represent what we believe is a new digital audio format of a more granular nature, where creatives can engage with each element of sound or building block to shape exciting new studio compositions and real-time performances, or bring a DJ set to the next level.”
The sound designers will remain anonymous, but the team promises to offer “‘real deal’ rather than ‘approximations’ when it comes to any given genre”, using producers with “significant musical backgrounds, deep connections and the respect of their communities.”
