The Weeknd has pleaded no contest to punching a Las Vegas police officer in January.

TMZ reports that the singer, born Abel Tesfaye, entered his plea in a Las Vegas court on Wednesday. Tesfaye will avoid jail if he complies with the judges orders, which include completing an anger management course, an alcohol evaluation and 50 hours of community service. He will also pay $1,000 to an injured police officer fund.

Back in January, Tesfaye was arrested in Las Vegas for punching a police officer. The R&B star was involved in a fight inside the Cromwell Hotel around 4:20 AM. In attempting to break up the fight, a cop pulled Tesfaye into an elevator, after which he allegedly punched the cop in the head. He was subsequently taken to jail for battery of a protected before being bailed out.
