Illuminate your vinyl in style.

If you thought we’d reached peak turntable with the announcement of vinyl players from Technics, Sony and Audio-Technica last week, think again: ION Audio has unveiled what might be the world’s first commercially available flashing turntables.

As Yahoo reports, the $100 Photon is the less expensive of the two options, and features a halo of coloured lights that flash in response to whatever you’ve got spinning on the platter – think an illuminated version of that trendy marbled vinyl.

The $130 Spectra on the other hand is much less subtle, transforming the turntable’s entire surface into what looks like one of those illuminated disco dancefloors. It comes with a remote control so you can change the colours being displayed.

If the novelty features of the Photon and Spectra aren’t the sophisticated vibe you’re going for, ION also announced the high-end BT 400 at last week’s CES trade show, a $400 turntable with “dampening tech” to reduce unwanted resonance.

If you can handle the illumination, the turntables are at least more affordable than the $4000 a new Technics SL-1200G has been reported to cost. See them in action below. [via The Vinyl Factory]
