She also delivered a heartfelt speech.

Kesha was guest of honour at the Human Rights Campaign Equality dinner in Nashville on Saturday.

The singer received the Visibility award, which is given to “high profile individuals who use their profile to advance and advocate for the LGBT movement. Recipients are selected because they are closely aligned with HRC’s mission to ensure equality for all Americans,” according to LA singer Wrabel.

Kesha was recently denied a preliminary injunction to get out of her recording contract with Sony, Dr. Luke and his label Kemosabe, despite her allegations of abuse against former producer Luke.

On accepting the HRC award, Kesha said: “Fame is strange and unnatural and I’m grateful for it mainly because it has put me in the position to do something positive for the world.”

She also shared stories of her early childhood, specifically of her mother. “She taught me not only that we are all equal, but we are no different than any other animal so we should love all living things,” she said.

“My message to you today is don’t be afraid to speak up against any injustice you experience. Don’t let people scare and shame you in changing the things about yourself that make you unique,” she added. Watch the full speech below.
