London’s live music thrown a lifeline.

A music venue in London’s Tin Pan Alley area, around Denmark Street, has been granted planning permission by Camden Council.

The 280-capacity space will join a larger 800-capacity venue to form part of the St Giles Circus development, which is expected to be ready in 2018, reports The Spaces.

The building should be a much-needed boost for live music in the centre of London, which has endured the closure of the Astoria and the 12 Bar Club in 2009 and 2015 respectively.

From April 6, new legislation will be implemented to protect UK music venues from developers in a city that has lost 35 per cent of its grassroots music venues since 2007.
