Peckham’s YAM Records has launched a label.

The South London record store continue its support of local talent with a 12″ from Peckham-based producers Louis and Ben Helliker-Hales, also known as Chaos In The CBD.

Since leaving New Zealand four years ago, the Auckland duo have entered the radars of underground house heads across Europe with their refreshing jazz-infused sound, gracing the rosters of labels including London’s Rhythm Section, Paris’ ClekClekBoom and Montreal’s Amadeus.

YAM 001 kicks off with ‘Global Erosion’ on the A-side, which features Isaac Aesili on horn and live percussion duties, adding to the deep and emotional journey of the track. On the flip is ‘Background Explorer’ (played by James Blake on his Radio 1 show last night), an eight-minute heads-down joint which circles around heavy percussion, soft pads and distant rainforest calls.
