Kanye West kicked off the first night of his Saint Pablo tour in Indianapolis last night (August 25) with an awe-inspiring performance that raised the bar pretty high in terms of stage design.

Resembling the epic floating cities of science fiction, West performed from an elevated stage that hovered in the air above an open floor space and a writhing pit of fans. Held up by a complicated pulley system, see pictures of the contraption in its before and during stages below.

The majority of the 31-track set included tracks from West’s most recent album, The Life of Pablo. As CoS reports, a pit broke out during Kanye’s performance of ‘Freestyle 4’ and during ‘Blood On The Leaves’, the rapper was forced to temporarily stop performing as fans grabbed the stage.
