Prime subscribers and Echo speaker owners can get unlimited music for under $10 a month.

Amazon has launched its long-rumoured new streaming service, Amazon Music Unlimited.

The service, which is currently only available in the USA, costs $9.99 a month (the same as Spotify and Apple Music), but Prime subscribers can get it for $7.99. Owners of Amazon’s Echo speaker can get the service for just $3.99 a month.

Amazon Music Unlimited is a relaunched version of the existing Prime Music service, but as The Verge reports, the new platform has has a catalogue of “tens of millions” of songs and deals with all three major labels and “thousands” of independent labels.

While the service has all the usual algorithmic and curated playlists to help people find music, the feature that differentiates Amazon’s offering is integration with its Echo speaker.

The voice-activated device allows users to request content from Music Unlimited using vocal commands, ranging from song, album and artist requests to music based on mood.

The service will also include a new feature called Side-by-Side, which puts exclusive artist commentary together with their music. Norah Jones and The Chansmokers are among the first names involved.

The Verge also notes that Amazon hasn’t made a full decision yet as to whether to pursue exclusives like Apple Music has, something that has yet to help the service overtake Spotify.
