The Coldplay-loving “artist” sticks it to his haters.

Lil Yachty won’t call himself a rapper and his beef with Pete Rock hardly endeared him to his elders, but on Tuesday (November 29) the ruby-haired “artist” proved he can rap with an impressively tight freestyle for Ebro Darden’s Beats 1 show.

Spitting bars over Craig Mack’s 1994 hit ‘Flava In Ya Ear’, Yachty’s quick-fire rhymes earned him the respect of his (former) critic, while his apology showed he can do humbling too. He took back those anti-Biggie comments, while namechecking Coldplay (!) and Kid Cudi among his musical influences. Yachty also confirmed his hatred for the mumble rap tag.

Watch the freestyle below and then remind yourself of the ATL upstart’s bubblegum pop credentials with his guest spot on Charli XCX’s ‘After The Afterparty’.
