The ‘Cranes in the Sky’ singer was introduced to the stage by legendary activist Angela Davis.

An alternative to Donald Trump’s Make America Great Again concert took place last night (January 19) in Washington DC to celebrate the social progress that’s been made in recent years.

The Peace Ball: Voices of Hope and Resistance was held at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington DC – just across the lawn from Trump’s bash at the Lincoln Memorial – and saw Solange and Esperanza Spalding perform live to mark “the accomplishments and successes of the past four years and the vow to continue to be the change we want to see in the world.”

Accompanied by dancers, Solange played an inspiring set of songs from last year’s acclaimed A Seat at the Table album, including ‘Cranes in the Sky,’ and ‘Don’t Touch My Hair’. She was introduced to the stage by legendary activist Angela Davis, who called the singer-songwriter a “legend” and urged her to pen anthems in the wake of Trump’s America.
