A Music of Sound Systems is described as “an audio exploration of space, volume, mass and rhythm.”

UK producer Spatial will release his debut album via his Infrasonics label next month.

Spatial has been part of the UK’s ever-mutating club scene since his debut in 2008, combining everything from garage to dub techno into his own signature brand of alien dance music.

Released on March 23, A Music of Sound Systems is described as “an audio exploration of space, volume, mass and rhythm,” that pays tribute to Caribbean and UK sound system culture.

The 10-track album also takes inspiration from the abstract art movement of Suprematism, whose focus on geometric shapes and limited color palette was most notably adopted by Russian artist El Lissitzky.

A Music of Sound Systems was produced between his London home and the Canary Islands, which the label says is reflected in the “contradiction of moods in the album,” juxtaposing “harsh grey” alongside “softer ambient tones.”

The album also incorporates elements of his new live show, which was captured by FACT TV at last year’s MUTEK festival in Montreal. It also follows his recent Emergence series of EPs, which charted similarly mind-bending territory.
