Made to accompany artworks by Ellen Burroughs, Katrina Cowling, Rachel Lancaster and Anna Peaker.

Opal Tapes have compiled a collection of experimental musician Lucy Johnson’s sound works for artists on the upcoming cassette Soundtracks 2013 – 2019 Vol. 1.

The five compositions were made as soundtracks for art installations and works by Ellen Burroughs, Katrina Cowling, Rachel Lancaster and Anna Peaker, such as Racheal Lancaster’s Voicings (‘Stage’) and Katrina Cowling’s installation art (‘Vehicle’).

The sample track ‘Argos’ was made for artist Ellen Burroughs exhibition Returning to Argos and unsettles with what the label describes as “a truly haunting construction of distended animal/child song and funeral piano padding an otherworldy environment.”

Soundtracks 2013 – 2019 Vol. 1 is available for pre-order now ahead of its January 31 release. The tape is a part of Opal Tapes’ latest batch that includes cassettes from Body Improvement Calendar, Siavash Amini & Saåad and Life’s Track. See the tracklist below.
