The Los Angeles beat sage follows up last year’s Bespoke and Overwhelmed EPs.
Alfred “Daedelus” Darlington has teamed up with Scion A/V for his next EP, entitled Looking Ocean and out on October 16. The cover art’s painting is by Ruth Weisberg (Darlington’s mother), with calligraphy by Selwa Sweidan, and the EP features performances by Zackey Force Funk, Austin Peralta, and Computer Jay.
The first cut off the five-track Looking Ocean is the woozy footwork of ‘Platforming.’ The video, also a collaboration with Scion, is a stop-motion light show over with the contortions of various robotic contraptions. For a producer that fuses the natural with the artificial so deftly, it’s the perfect visual expression of the song.
Earlier this year, Daedelus threw in everything including the kitchen sink on a FACT mix. He also remixed Purity Ring, whose album he described as the “sounding board of this passing Summer.”
