New Queens of the Stone Age album sounds "like running in a dream inside a codeine cabaret"

The stoner rock heavyweights share a cryptic teaser.

Queens of the Stone Age sent a note (below) to Mojo about their forthcoming album. Acknowledging the delay between the album and 2007’s Era Vulgaris, the note says that rather than “clockwerk”, “the reality has been manic and unpredictable.” Rather, the songs “aren’t recollections of times we had. They are depictions of what we are going through in real time.”

Most intriguing is their promise that the record sounds “like running in a dream inside a codeine cabaret.” Puzzled? So are they: “I hope you understand what that means, cause we don’t. Sounds like a load of pretentious sh..! What?”

While other details are scarce, some contributors have been revealed: original bassist Nick Oliveri has reunited with the band, Dave Grohl has signed up for drumming duties, and Trent Reznor has helped on a song as well. [via Antiquiet]
