Azealia Banks vs. Baauer rumbles on: Banks posts screengrab of Christmas Eve email exchange

Azealia Banks vs. Baauer continues to rumble on.

Following Baauer’s interview with The Daily Beast yesterday, in which the ‘Harlem Shake’ producer explained that “[Azealia] laid something on ‘Harlem Shake’ and it was so/so. Didn’t love it”, and so Mad Decent ultimately decided to go with an instrumental version for the track’s full release (it had been initially been given out for free last year), Banks has posted a screengrab of an email from Baauer, sent on Christmas Eve. It reads thus:

“Hey Azealia! Thrilled to hear from you im a big fan of yours!!

The vocal sounds fantastic! I really love the flow on it in the second half especially. Im gonna strip down the beat to make more room for your vocals”

Ultimately, we can’t help thinking that what Baauer thought of Banks’ vocal doesn’t really matter: if Mad Decent, the track’s label, aren’t into the vocal, then they have no obligation to release it, and it’s worth noting that in Baauer’s offending interview, his focus is very much on the decision that both him and the label made (“our plans”, “we told her”, etc). Either way, in more interesting Baauer news it looks like Just Blaze and Aluna, of AlunaGeorge, will both feature on his next EP for LuckyMe, which should be good.

You can recap the whole Banks / Baauer story here.
