It’s safe to say that Thundercat (aka Stephen Bruner) is somewhat nerdy.

Not content with honing his virtuoso bass skills and building his fusion collection, he also holds a torch for videogames, so it’s hardly surprising to hear that he was so moved by the recent death of former Nintendo President Hiroshi Yamauchi that he wrote a track to commemorate it.

Entitled ‘Bowzer’s Theme’, it quickly reminds of the golden age of gaming (forget GTA V for a minute, OK) with some gorgeous harmonies no doubt provided by Bruner’s pianist co-writer Ruslan Sirota.

Bruner has also laid out plans embark on his very first headline tour of the U.S. and Canada this winter, and you can take a look at the dates below.
