More details emerge as the launch of Beats Music nears.

As announced last month, the new online streaming music service from Beats Electronic will launch this month.

Further details have emerged since the first round of announcements in late 2013. Firstly it appears Beats Music will launch on or around January 26, which is when The Grammys take place. Secondly, this will be followed by a marketing campaign that apparently includes an ad during the Superbowl on February 2. Thirdly, the previously hinted at tie-in with AT&T in the United States is reportedly now going ahead. This would mean that Beats Music will be bundled with AT&T phones via a phone bill add-on. And lastly there will be no free option, Beats Music will apparently only offer a short free trial but no free version like some of its rivals. [via Hypebot]

With the streaming music market already crowded, and everyone’s favourite target, Spotify, getting attacked more or less every month in the past year, it’ll be interesting to see how well Beats Music fares. Certainly the backing it’s received from the likes of Trent Reznor would indicate that it has a lot of music people – artists and professionals – already on its side.

So far the main selling point, if you will, has been its rumoured focus on curation and personalisation as the main user experience. Considering how much lead Spotify, and others, have already had to offer users a streaming playground in which to make their own playlists and share with others, you have to wonder if the service will live up to the hype.
