Massive Attack's Robert Del Naja remixes TV On The Radio's Tunde Adebimpe for new 12"

The third in the ongoing Battle Box series.

Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja has again teamed up with TV On The Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe to release a pair of remixes of the latter’s Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band project.

The Massive Attack man has reworked two tracks from the outfit’s self-titled 2013 debut EP as the latest release in his Battle Box series.

“I constantly stalk Tunde with instrumentals! In revenge he sent me the Higgins album and I picked 2 tracks that I thought would be fun to remix. Now that’s sorted, I’ll get back to harassing him with loops,” said Del Naja, who previously worked with Adebimpe in 2009 on Massive Attack’s ‘Pray For Rain’.

‘Mad Lifeline’ (which can be sampled below) pitches Adembimpe’s reverb-drenched vocals and gently picked guitar over a brooding rhythm that almost recalls the desolate desert blues of Tinariwen, while ‘WPIC’ is a dark, electronic inversion of the original’s post-punk bite.

Higgins in 3D is the third release in Del Naja’s Battle Box series in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory, following 2012′s project with Elbow’s Guy Garvey and last year’s collaboration with Congolese Africa Express artist Jupiter.

Battle Box 003 – Higgins in 3D is limited to 500 copies and features hand screen-printed artwork by Paul Insect.
