Bronx rapper Tim Dog did not fake his own death, report reveals

The strange case of what happened to the MC born Timothy Blair finally reaches a conclusion.

Back in February 2013 it was reported that Tim Dog, best known for his 1991 West Coast diss track ‘Fuck Compton’, had died from a diabetes-related seizure. In the following weeks, however, rumours began to fly that the rapper had faked his own death in order to avoid court-ordered repayments related to his involvement in online dating scam. The claims led to an arrest warrant being issued for the allegedly-deceased, with prosecutors filing a petition with a judge to have Blair’s probation revoked.

Now, eighteen months later, it looks like the mystery has finally been solved following an investigative report by Dateline NBC. The US TV show obtained Blair’s death certificate from the Dekalb County GA Board of Health, which confirmed that the rapper died on February 14 last year while in the care of Hospice Atlanta.

According to the report, the certificate hadn’t been traced until now because paperwork is filed in the county of death, and no one except his close family, friends and carers knew where the rapper was living. See the certificate and read the full investigation over at Dateline NBC. [via Pitchfork]
