The Awful iconoclast teams with a producer-to-watch.

Slug Christ has released God Is Under the Porch Where The Dog Died, an amazingly-titled eight-track effort produced by fellow grim rap-talent Purpdogg. The album comes on the heels of the excellent The Crucifixion of Rapper Extraordinaire, Slug Christ and collaborations with Ethereal, Little Pain and Dexter Dukarus.

“[I] just really have always respected Purpdogg,” Slug writes. “He slick influenced my production style, low key. He a legend in my book, and we got to collab on the ‘She Want More’ beat, so it was all crazy.”

The project combines Purpdogg’s region-less menace with Slug Christ’s drug-dazed raps, darting from twisted nursery rhyme hooks (‘Better Leave It’) to a sinister version of ‘Watch Me (Whip / Nae Nae)’ (‘Drip’), with steel drums (‘Shawty Wana’) and Korean up-and-comer Keith Ape (‘Honja’) changing the pace.

“I have been looking for god my entire life,” reasds the album’s Bandcamp inscription. “I found him under the porch where the dog hid itself away from the rest of the family, where the dog knew what was coming…” If you thought Jesus Wept was the most sacrilegious Slug Christ could get, think again.
