Electro original Egyptian Lover has announced his first album in nine years.

1984 is said to be named after the year that inspired it, with tracks “recorded the old way with the old equipment” to make an album of “pure old-school electro”.

The West Coast producer will release the 12-track project on October 30 through his own label, Egyptian Empire Records. Listen to ‘Freaky Deaky Machine’ below and check out more snippets of the album underneath.

For some insight into the veteran producer’s studio skills, watch him build a beat on a Roland TR-808 on FACT TV – then travel back in time to see him do it in 1983.

1984 follows last year’s anthology box set on Stones Throw containing classic and unreleased tracks from Egyptian Lover’s vaults. [via RA]
