Max Richter’s soporific longform experiment will get a deluxe release next month.

SLEEP, described by the composer as his “personal lullaby for a frenetic world,” premiered this past September in London at a concert performance lasting from 12 midnight to 8am, which was broadcast live on BBC Radio and broke two Guinness World Records in the process.

On December 11, the piece will be released in full as part of a deluxe box set containing eight CDs and one high-definition Blu-Ray disc. After that, a series of SLEEP remixes is on the way led by Mogwai’s version of ‘Path 5’, also due on December 11. Stream the remix below and pre-order the box set here.

Richter will also be taking SLEEP on the road as a shortened piece performed alongside his classic The Blue Notebooks, visiting Bristol, London, Norwich, Manchester and Edinburgh in May next year – see the tour dates under the video.

Meanwhile, Richter recently signed on to soundtrack the debut feature film from Luke Scott, son of Blade Runner director Ridley Scott.

Tour dates:

Sat 14 May – Bristol, Colston Hall
Tue 17 May – London, Barbican
Thu 19 May – Norwich, Norfolk & Norwich Festival
Sat 21 May – Manchester, RNCM
Tue 24 May – Edinburgh, Usher Hall
