Plus Ezra Koenig and Father John Misty reveal their involvement in the record.

After months of teasing and excitement, Beyoncé’s highly anticipated sixth album Lemonade finally dropped on Saturday (April 23), premiered in an HBO special then released in full on Tidal.

It has been available to buy via iTunes and Amazon since Sunday, with the record hitting number one on the iTunes chart on Monday.

Now HitsDailyDouble reports that with first-day sales estimated to have reached around 200k, it’s possible the record will notch up half a million by the end of this week. Bey’s 2013 self-titled visual album sold over 600k in its first week.

James Blake, Kendrick Lamar, Jack White and The Weeknd all feature on the new album, while Led Zeppelin, Father John Misty, Diplo, Emile Haynie, MNEK and Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig have writing credits.

Koenig shed some light yesterday via Twitter on how his contribution to the album came to be:

Father John Misty has also tweeted about his involvement:

‘6 Inch’, a duet with the Weeknd, was co-written by The-Dream and samples Animal Collective’s ‘My Girls’, while the Diplo-produced ‘All Night’ contains snippets of Outkast’s 1998 track ‘SpottieOttieDopaliscious’.

The song ‘Hold Up’ samples both the Yeah Yeah Yeahs classic ‘Maps’ and ‘Turn My Swag On’ by Soulja Boy.

Lemonade, which has yet to hit Spotify or other streaming services, is reportedly one of the most pirated albums on torrent sites like The Pirate Bay. It follows another Tidal exclusive – Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo – but Lemonade’s availability as a legal download (Pablo is still unavailable for purchase) via iTunes and Amazon may help to halt the flow of piracy.
