Dr. Luke dodges another suit in his legal battle with Kesha.

Kesha’s mother Pebe Sebert has dropped a countersuit against Dr. Luke after he sued her in Tennessee for defamation and tortious (wrongful) interference. Sebert countersued on the basis of “intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress based on the alleged abuse directed at Kesha” and “misrepresentations and fraudulent inducement by asserting that Dr. Luke had promised that she would be involved in her daughter’s career including as a songwriter.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, today Sebert has voluntarily dropped those claims. It comes at the same time as the news that Kesha is back in the studio working on solo material with Zedd on production duties.

Kesha’s case against Sony was thrown out by New York court earlier this month after an arduous battle out of her contract with the label. She had accused Dr. Luke of sexual and emotional abuse and was denied a preliminary injunction in February for her suit against him. The denial led to fan protests and support for the singer from her peers and colleagues.

Kesha is still waiting for the preliminary injunction to go up in the New York State appellate court. She and her mother will be deposed by Dr. Luke’s lawyers in June.

Sebert’s attorney Alex Little has said: “The litigation with Dr. Luke has been a nightmare for Mrs. Sebert and her family. She has decided to move on and find peace and forgiveness in her heart rather than dwelling in the cancerous past of an ongoing lawsuit with no end in sight.”
