The festival is now working to “get all travelers home safely.”

Fyre Festival has been “fully postponed” due to “unforeseen and extenuating circumstances” following multiple reports that likened the festival site to a disaster zone.

Fyre Festival, which was due to take place this weekend, was being helmed by Ja Rule and tech entrepreneur Billy McFarland with music performances planned from the likes of Skepta, Disclosure and Rae Sremmurd. The event had been advertised on social media as a hyper-glamorous getaway, promoted by supermodels including Kendall Jenner, Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid who promised a beach paradise setting.

The luxury festival, located on a private island in the Bahamas, descended into chaos last night (April 27), when ticket holders arrived to a half-finished campsite. Attendees at the event – whose ticket prices ranged from $4,000 to $12,000 – complained of substandard meals served in polystyrene containers and mountains of rubbish littering the grounds.

Blink-182 announced that they were cancelling their performance last night and “after assessing the situation this morning and looking at best options for our guest”, the festival has now tweeted to say that it “cannot move forward as we hoped we could.” It is now working “tirelessly to get flights scheduled and get all travelers home safely.”

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism has also issued a statement saying festival staff “did not have the capacity to execute an event of this scale.”
