Pharrell Williams is set to produce a new horror film called Survive the Night.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Williams has teamed up with Girls Trip writer Tracy Oliver for the thriller, which is based on a young adult novel by Danielle Vega.
The film follows a group of college students trapped at a Halloween rave with a killer on the loose. It’s been described as “a grounded empowerment story about four female friends.”
Williams will produce the movie with his I Am Other Entertainment partner Mimi Valdes. The pair worked together on the Oscar-nominated film Hidden Figures, of which Pharrell was also music supervisor. Music will reportedly play a large role in Survive the Night.
In other Pharrell news, earlier this week it was announced that the US producer is now a co-owner of UK music tech startup ROLI, investing in the company and taking up a position at its chief creative officer. As part of the announcement, ROLI also revealed that Williams has made a ‘Happy’ soundpack for its Noise app.
