Disney has decided not to go ahead with the third instalment of the Tron series.

Tron: Ascension was due to begin filming in 2016, with Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund reprising their characters from 2010’s Tron: Legacy and rumours that Daft Punk would also return on soundtrack duties.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Disney has chosen not to move forward with the movie, adding that the project was “never officially greenlit”. Find out more about Daft Punk’s epic Legacy soundtrack, which the robots said was “the most challenging and complex thing” they had ever done.

Tron fans still have a video game to look forward to, however, with Giorgio Moroder and Skrillex rumoured to be providing the music.
