“Over the last couple of years I’ve been making really, really, really, quiet music to listen to when I do yoga or sleep or meditate or panic,” he says.
Moby has shared four hours of newly recorded ambient music, which you can download for free.
LongAmbients1: Calm. Sleep. consists of 11 instrumental, drum-free tracks, with the longest clocking in at 35 minutes and “just very slow calm pretty chords and sounds,” explained the DJ and producer in a statement on his website.
“Over the last couple of years I’ve been making really, really, really, quiet music to listen to when I do yoga or sleep or meditate or panic,” he wrote. “I ended up with 4 hours of music and have decided to give it away.”
“Feel free to share it or give it away or whatever, it’s not protected or anything, or at least it shouldn’t be,” he added. You can download the music from Moby’s website, or stream it via Spotify below.
This is not the first time the veteran electronic producer has given away his music for free. In 2013, Moby relaunched MobyGratis.com, a database of free music available for use by film students, not-for-profit ventures and independent filmmakers.
LongAmbients1: Calm. Sleep. follows 2013’s full-length release, Innocents.
Meanwhile, Moby is set to publish his candid memoir, Porcelain, later this year.
