“Master tenant” Derick Almena and creative director Max Harris were both arrested in June.

The two men charged with 36 felony counts of manslaughter following Oakland’s tragic Ghost Ship fire in December 2016 have pleaded not guilty, according to the East Bay Times.

In June, “Master tenant” Derick Almena and his housemate and Ghost Ship creative director Max Harris were both arrested on manslaughter charges that related to the deadly fire that occurred while a party featuring artists from the 100% Silk label was taking place at the building.

Prosecutors allege that Harris and Almena created “a dangerous environment” at the Fruitvale district warehouse that led to the tragic fire, which killed 36 people on December 2.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 13, during which a judge will ascertain whether there is enough evidence to take the case to trial.
