Dogg Pound 4 Life will pick up where the N.W.A. biopic left off.

Straight Outta Compton has been a massive box office success, taking $60 million in its first week with a promotional assist from Dr. Dre’s accompanying soundtrack album-slash-grand finale.

Already it looks like a sequel could be in the works, following the West Coast story into the 1990s with Snoop Dogg, Tupac, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger and Warren G.

Dogg Pound rapper Daz told TMZ that the follow-up will tackle gang violence and its impact on rap, with Dr. Dre’s son Curtis Young in line to play his dad. According to Daz, Ice Cube approves of the project but won’t be involved.

He also said that while Suge Knight is set to be included in the story, he won’t be involved in the film either – which no doubt makes the producers lives easier, as Knight is currently facing trial on a murder charge.

There are more than a few questions marks hanging over the whole project, but the success of Compton will surely be encouraging for Hollywood – read FACT’s review.

Meanwhile, Ice Cube and his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. are said to be in talks to star in another LA movie, this time focusing on the 1992 riots.
